Benedikt Bömer graduated from the School of Physiotherapy in Bad Abbach, in December 1988. He worked from the year 1988 to 1989 as a physiotherapist at the
Werner – Wicker Rehabilitation Center, where he specialized in the treatment of
patients with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. The two following years he worked with children suffering from celebral palsy at the Wellenbrock/ Prytulla, a private practice in Berlin.
From the year 1992 to 1994 Bömer taught PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) and neurology at the Academyof Rehabilitation, Berlin. During the two following years Bömer held the position of Vice Director at the Department of Neurological and Orthopedic impairments atthe Physiotherapy Outpatient Clinique of Westend, Berlin. From the year 1996 to 2002, Bömer held the position of Director of the Departments of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Therapy of Sports at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Clinique of Beelitz-Heilstätten, an institution for 240 inpatients and covering the rehabilitation of patients in all stages of conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and Parkinsons disease. During this time, Bömer also participated in the development of the institution. From 2002 till 2021 Bömer was holding the position of Professional Consultant advising the entire rehabilitation staff in all the treatments of inpatients in the same clinique, Beelitz-Heilstätten.
Since 2021 he is the supervisor for the physiotherapist and occupational therapist in the neurological Rehabilitation clinic Median Klinik Kladow.
During his professional career Bömer continued his education and completed the training for Manual Therapist (1992), was awarded the license for International Instructor in PNF, recognized IPNFA (basic course instructor in 1999, advanced course instructor in 2003 and senior instructor in 2014). In August 2003 Bömer was awarded the license for International Instructor in “Bobath for adults”, recognize IBITA ( advanced course instructor since 2016 ). Since the end of August 2014 Bömer has completed his studies for a Master of Science Degree in neuro-sciences.
During the last twenty years Bömer has been teaching several international courses
in Bobath and PNF in various countries in Europe ( Germany, Poland, Greece,
Bulgaria, Cyprus ), as well as in Japan, South Korea, and Brazil.
Bömer has lectured widely on the topic of neurological rehabilitation, presenting
special treatment approaches and/or particular impairments.
Bömer was a contributor to the book “Physiotherapie bei Wirbelsäulenerkrankungen” (Physiotherapy for Spinal Injuries) with the essay
“PNF Methode”, eds. Soyka. M. and Meholm.D., publisher: Urban & Fischer,
